                                    Class Descriptions


For riders to be eligible for a division award, riders must compete in ALL classes in that division and there must be at least 3 entries in each class for a division award to be given.
 
MORNING CLASSES:

Walk Trot Hunter:  Open to anyone who is showing in the morning session.

Low Hunter 2' Division:  Open to Jr, Amateur and Professional riders. 

Hopeful Hunter 2'3" Division:  Open to Jr, Amateur and Professional riders.

Equitation 2' and 2'6" classes:  Riders to jump a course of at least 8 fences.  Course will be similar to a jumper course, usually with at least one oxer, a roll back and possibly an in and out.  Open only to Junior and Amateur riders. 

Open Hunter 2'6" OR 3" Division:  Open to Jr., Amateur and Professional riders.  The 2'6" group will ride first, then those who choose to ride in the 3' group will follow.  Both groups will be judged equally as one. 

Leadline:  Open to riders ages 6 and under.  To be led around at the walk.  No stallions.  Formal attire not required, however riders must wear an ASTM approved helmet. 

Model Hunter:  To be shown in hand at the walk and trot.  Handlers may show in khaki's and a polo shirt neatly tucked in or full riding attire.  Open to Jr., Amateurs and Professionals.  Horse or pony to be judged on conformation and suitability as a Hunter. 

AFTERNOON CLASSES:

Walk Trot for Charity:  Open to anyone!  100% of the money raised from this class will go to a local charity.  2007's charity was the Santa In Uniform where the Summerville Fire Department takes less fortunate children to Walmart and buys them Christmas presents! 

Green Hunter Division:  A green hunter is a horse, regardless of age, that has been shown for less than 2 years.  Open to Jr., Amateur and Professional riders.  The crossrail class usually consist of 4 outside line crossrail fences no larger than 18". 

Walk Trot Pleasure and Walk Trot Under Saddle:  To be judged at the walk and trot both directions of the arena.

Mini Hunter Division:  Open to all Jr., Amateur and Professional riders.  The over fences classes will consist of 8 fences no larger than 18" though some may be crossrails and some verticals.   Horses may not enter any class over fences higher than 2'. 

Beginner Rider Classes:  Open to Jr. and Amateur riders, no professionals.  Rider may NOT cross enter in any morning class other than Model Hunter. 

Beginner Rider Crossrail classes:  Riders to jump the outside lines of crossrails no larger than 18" in height.  (usually 4 to 8 fences)
