                                    Class Descriptions

For riders to be eligible for a division award, riders must compete in ALL classes in that division and there must be at least 3 entries in each class for a division award to be given.

MORNING CLASSES:

Walk Trot Hunter:  Open to anyone who is showing in the morning session.

Blue/Red Warm Up:  This is a judged warm up round of either course "A" or "B" (course will be posted) where it is left to the judges discretion to award all riders a first or second place ribbon, or no ribbon at all, depending on the score given on that particular round.  This warm up is an open card, meaning you may use your warm up round anytime during the morning over fences classes, it does not have to be before the 2' division.  For instance, if you're riding in the 2'6" division, you may use your Red/Blue Warm Up before you ride your first round in the Open Hunter.

Low Hunter 2' Division:  Open to Jr, Amateur and Professional riders.

Hopeful Hunter 2'3" Division:  Open to Jr, Amateur and Professional riders.

Chris Elliott Equitation Medal Class:  Riders are judged on their equitation over fences first (fences are 2'3"), and the judge will call back a minimum of the top 6 riders to ride on the flat.  Scores over fences and on the flat are combined, thus decided the winners.  Winner to receive a ribbon and super cool medal!  This class is in memory of Chris Elliott who was a dear friend of us at Rivermont and who judged for us for the first 3 years we held horse shows here.

Equitation 2'-2'6" classes:  Riders to jump a course of at least 8 fences.  Course will be similar to a jumper course, usually with at least one oxer, a roll back and possibly an in and out.  Only Junior and Amateur riders may compete in the 2' and 2'3" equitation.  Open Equitation is open to Jr's, Amateur's and Professional riders!

Open Hunter 2'6"-2'9" Division:  Open to Jr., Amateur and Professional riders.

Leadline:  Open to riders ages 7 and under.  To be led around at the walk.  No stallions.  Formal attire not required, however riders must wear an ASTM approved helmet.

****NOTE!  There will be NO LUNCH BREAK THIS YEAR!  Please use the blue/red warm up if you need to get a warm up round in.  Thanks so much!

Open Walk Trot Classes:  Open to everyone

Green Hunter Division:  A green hunter is a horse, regardless of age, that has been shown for less than 2 years.  Open to Jr., Amateur and Professional riders.

Blue/Red Warm Up:  Same as above Blue/Red Warm up, only pertaining to mini hunter and beginner classes.  Warm up round may be used at anytime during over fences class.

Mini Hunter Division:  Open to all Jr., Amateur and Professional riders.  The over fences classes will consist of 8 fences no larger than 18" though some may be crossrails and some verticals.   Horses may not enter any class over fences higher than 2'.

Beginner Rider Classes:  Open to Jr. and Amateur riders, no professionals.  Rider may NOT cross enter in any morning class.  Should class have more than 14 riders, show management reserves the right to split the class for safety reasons.

Beginner Rider Crossrail classes:  Riders to jump the outside lines of crossrails no larger than 18" in height.  (usually 4 to 8 fences)

Beginner Rider Mini Course:  Same as mini hunter except beginner riders only.

*PLEASE NO DOGS ON SHOW DAY!  We love dogs too however my insurance company strictly prohibits dogs being brought to the farm on show day for safety reasons.  Thank you so much for understanding!

Please no lunging in arena or lower warm up arena.

Any discourtesy to show management or show officials will result in you being asked to leave the show grounds with no refunds.  We're here to have fun!

No approaching the judge until after the show is over.  At that time I'm sure they would love to chat! :)

No golf carts or other motorized vehicles of that sort please, once again...insurance reasons.  Thanks! :)

Beginner classes may be split for safety reasons should there be more than 14 entries in each class.  Should this happen the classes will be judged separately with separate Division Champion and Reserve.

Unless otherwise noted, Rivermont's shows abide by the rules of the USEF.

A current, negative coggins must be shown at the show check in or numbers will not be issued.

Entry forms must be signed by an adult and payment made at show check in before numbers will be issued.

Inclement weather:  Should weather be an issue, we will post cancelation and new show date on this website by Friday at noon before the show.  We try to call and email all pre-entered horse owners to inform them as well, so please provide a phone number where you may be reached when you pre-register.

Entries:  Entries must be received by us no later than 7pm EST Thursday before each show or you will be charged a $10.00 per horse/rider combo late fee.

Awards:  Ribbons 1st thru 6th place, Division Champion and Reserve.  Medal class awards a medal and ribbon to the first place winner!  Sometimes we have trophies for first and for Champion! :)

Points:  Points are kept on horse/rider combination with the exception of Equitation classes where points are kept solely on the rider.
